Strategy, listed on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol (MSTR), resumed its familiar Bitcoin accumulation strategy after revealing in a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that it had sold 1.409 million Class A common shares, generating net proceeds of $181 million. The company used the entire amount to acquire 1,550 Bitcoin at an average purchase price of $65,332 per coin.
This move is particularly significant because it comes only days after market concerns emerged following disclosures showing that the company had sold 32 Bitcoin for approximately $2.5 million. Although the amount sold was minimal relative to its total holdings, the transaction raised investor concerns about whether management was moving away from its long term Bitcoin accumulation strategy.
The company later clarified that the sale was conducted to meet mandatory cash dividend obligations related to its preferred shares. Nevertheless, speculation persisted regarding potential shifts in its investment approach or possible liquidity pressures, contributing to weakness in both Bitcoin prices and the company’s stock in recent weeks.
Market observers view the latest purchase as a clear signal that Strategy remains committed to its long term accumulation plan, especially since the newly acquired Bitcoin amount is roughly 50 times larger than the quantity previously sold.
The transaction also reinforces the company’s established business model of issuing new shares and raising capital to fund additional Bitcoin purchases, effectively providing traditional investors with an indirect and leveraged exposure to the cryptocurrency’s performance.
Following this acquisition, Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings have surpassed 845,000 BTC, representing more than 4% of Bitcoin’s maximum supply, further cementing its position as the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin globally.
Investors generally see the move as restoring confidence in the market and reaffirming the company’s commitment to buying market dips and expanding its Bitcoin holdings over the long term.
